Of course the dish can also be served with chicken or beef, but it is original with pork.
Ingredients for 4 persons:
1 kg pork in cubes (2×2 cm)
1 can of pineapple in pieces
1 cucumber in pieces (optionally paprika or/and sprouts)
1/2 cup starch
6 cups oil
½ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon of starch
1 tablespoon of water
1 egg yolk
6 tablespoons vinegar (Chinese would be best, but white balsamic vinegar is also possible)
10 tablespoons of water or juice
6 tablespoons ketchup
4 tablespoons of sugar
3 tablespoons starch
2 teaspoons sesame oil
Marinate the meat pieces for at least half an hour. Then mix the meat with half a cup of starch and fry in parts in very hot oil for two minutes. Take it out and put it on a kitchen paper. Then deep-fry again for another 2 minutes.
Now pour off the oil to about 2 tablespoons. Turn off the heat and put the pineapple and the cucumber in the pan. Mix the ingredients for the sauce in a bowl and pour over the pineapple/cucumbers. Bring to the boil briefly. Put the meat into it and serve immediately.
Rice 😉 goes well with this, of course.
