Laws in Singapore are strict. There is also a point System (12 pt). Only a few offences are enough and you’re a pedestrian.
If you still want to drive a vehicle, you must have a valid driving licence.
Rules for Foreigners in Singapore:
Those who do not stay longer than six months in Singapore can drive with an international driving license.
If you want to drive beyond this period, you need a local driving license. The laws in Singapore allow the conversion of the previous driving license into a Singapore driving license. The application must be made in person at one of the available Driving Test Centres.
A theory test is required as a minimum. Practical tests depend on the personal preconditions.
If you have a valid driver’s license, you should be sure to follow the traffic regulations.
- Left-hand traffic
- Compulsory seat belts and child seats in the vehicle
- The maximum speed on normal roads is 50 km/h, on expressways 70-80 km/h.
- After driving lights between 7 o’clock in the evening and 7 o’clock in the morning are mandatory.
